Downloaded VF 2a

I have downloaded VF 2a. However, I am a bit hesitant about installing it as I am working on an editing project. The notes on installation don’t answer questions such as: will I need a new registration number or will it load over version 2?

If one of the Forum members has carried out the installation I would be grateful if they can let me know of any problem they encountered.

In the mean time I am continuing to use VF2 and capture program 2.

There is nothing in VF 2.0a that should require additional registration. If your copy of 2.0 is fully registered, and you install 2.0a over the top of the current version, all registrations should carry over without issue.

If you do have any issues with registration, or installing the update. Please give us a call at: 1-800-577-6642

Yea right... the operative word is SHOULD.

So what if anything is Sonic Foundy doing about all the silly multiple registration problems I reported in this forum?

We are keeping a close eye on it as all our products use this registration model. Sorry you are having problems- your situation is far from common if that is any consolation (I know, it isn't)-

When I installed 2a, I completely uninstalled 2 first. Then I installed 2a. I did have to re-register the program and the MPEG plugin. It is a inconvenience, however *as long as the registration works* and I am not penalized for registering multiple times, I'm fine with it. I remember a couple of years back using a SF product, and it wouldn't let me re-register because I did it too many times, and it thought I was doing it on multiple machines.

There was an option to receive a little email attachment that when downloaded and run (by double clicking the icon) would alter your registry in such a way as to render a new installation of (in my case) VegasVideo fully registered (I presume by using permanent registration info contained in the little email-attached file).

If the registration model is common across SF applications, I would think a similar arrangement would be available to VF users as well as VV.

I still have my little file tucked safely away on my HD. Have used it three times since downloading it due to system changes/restorations/etc.

A great convenience if you ask me.

I downloaded and installed VF 2a with no problems. The registry app worked fine. I was hesitant to download and install the Direct X8 Runtime and Video DV capture upgrade because of MS disclaimers that it could not be uninstalled. My worry was in vain as all works fine.

i won't say this with complete certainty, but it seems to me i got one
of those eMails with a registry key attachment for just about every SF
title i've purchased, and that's quite a few of them by now. I always save
them, and any other eMail or web pages related to the license and
registration in the same directory where i save the download of the
software. It makes restoring after a drive crash very easy.
