When downmixing 5.1 to 2/0 all of the rear channel information is
lost. Is this the way it's supposed to work or am I missing something?
If I make a wav file without an LFE track the wav file is about 6 db higher
in level on playback then the 5.1 playback. When I put the wav file in
forge it shows clipping. The wav file at least has all of the rear information
imbeded on the track. If I change the 5.1 preferences back to pcm it still
comes out after render with clipping. About 12 sound tracks are involved
and normalization will totally destroy everything. The 5.1 plays on the timeline
without any clipping although it hits "0" in some places. Just wondering out
loud but I thought the downmixing was supposed to not loose any material.
I ran several short tests all the way to disc to verify this.
