In the Vegas 5 trial:
If I have the plug-in window open and drag an event two strange things happen. First, the event doesn't immediately follow the mouse. If lingers for a second or two in it's original position and then suddenly jumps to the mouse. Even then though it doesn't stick to the mouse. If I keep moving the mouse the event keeps playing catch up by waiting a second then jumping to the mouse. This only happens when adjusting an event forward (right) or backward (left) along the timeline in it's track. If I move the event up or down to another track this does not happen, and it does not happen if the plug-in window is closed.
This makes minute adjustments very hard when the plug-in window is open.
The second thing that happens is the plug-in window itself will flash. The plug-in's controls will disappear for a moment and the window will just be gray before it flashes back. If I keep moving the event as described above the plug-in window keeps flashing. And again as mentioned above this doesn't happen when moving an event up or down to another track.
It happens with all brands of plug-in's I own, Waves, Sony, and Sonic Timeworks.
