As far as I can tell, there are no "drawing" facilities within V4. However, I can make shapes out of the various Cookie Cutters, only for simple masking though. I/we can also make masks out of the various "symbols" that are part of the actual standard "text" alpha-numeric ranges. I could invisage, for example using the letter "O" in a novel way. Question marks are neat. Maybe some of the "extended character sets - webdings and Monotype Sorts etc etc, could give hours of possibilities - haven't tried this. But anything more elaboarate, I'd use my Paint Shop Pro or my MS Photodraw, save as a PNG and "keep" the transparency as an option. This way I've used exsisting graphics - say a poster, been able to exchange the white areas of the type face for transparency, allowing the underlying video to show through. It's jolly good fun and one can achive some truly amazing graphic impact - if done with style, simplicity and a midcum of panache.
What had you in mind? - I'm very interested. It's an area which gets my creative juices going.
In this case I was trying to mask a clip that has full force setting of the"pixel stretch" plug in applied. I dont think it can be done...I would be nice if I was wrong though.
I wanted to mask parts of that effect and let the video beneath it show.
Oh yeS Oh Yes yes yes yes . . . try having a go at chroma keying. Now I know what you're after CK might just do it for you - yeah? You could pick up a colour and make that the transparent part. I'm sure I've done this as an experiment - yes? CK isn't just for blue or green screens, and the man in tights - y'know!
Ohhhh... I wish I was sitting next to you now - Great Stuff!!
Click the "Parent-Child" relationship and the top track will mask the lower track. You can make a simple luminance mask by converting your top track to black and white or make more elaborate masks by fiddling with the compositing options.
