"Drive reset" problem with LG DVD Writer

Scott3141 wrote on 10/3/2005, 11:27 AM
I have only had Vegas MS+DVD for a few days so yesterday was the first attempt at burning a DVD. VMS works fine, but DVDA choked when writing DVD usually after just a few seconds. This seems odd as Nero Vision Express 3 and even Windows Movie Maker (with the Sonic DVD extension) burn DVD's just fine on this drive.

The error looks like this...

=====================================
The Drive has been reset most likely by another application or due to a SCSI/IDE configuration problem.

'SFMMCX' -(17)
'atapi'-(4)
-'HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GWA-4166B 1823' -(0)
module sfmmcx.cpp Line 1275
The drive state has changed
A power-on reset or bus-reset has occured
=====================================

Has anybody seen anything like this while using DVDA? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott,

I have an LG DVD unit and I've had problems burning out of VMS+DVD as well. I have found that the best thing to do is to "burn" to my hard drive and then make the DVD with another program, such as Roxio or Nero. I haven't tried a direct burn with VMS Platinum as yet, but when I do, I'll make a post to the group as to the results.

I realized last night that I had only seen this error when attempting to write a DVD+RW. So just for kicks I tried it with a DVD+R. Worked fine! Go figure.

I will try with another brand of DVD+RW and see if that works.
