When you say "download my Sony camcorder to my laptop...", there are at least 3 general ways to do that:
1) Using your laptops built-in "firewire" (IEEE1394) port, connect the camcorder via the TRV-27's built-in firewire port. There should be no special driver required on your laptop (part of your core Windows O/S).
2) If you want to establish a firewire connection but your laptop doesn't have a built-in firewire port, you can install a PCMCIA firewire adapter. Once installed, there should be no special driver required.
3) If you want to connect your camcorder via a USB connection, your PC should already have the necessary USB drivers installed (part of your core Windows O/S).
Are you planning to make the connection using a different approach than described above?
Hi Tony
I am using the DV out on the video and the firewire in on the computer through the IEEE 1394. The problem is in the capture mode it will not rcognise the video camera so I thought it needs a driver. Any of my other Sony products are recognised by XP as I plug them in. I have had this problem on and of for a while and it is never plug and play.
I am lost.
Kevin
Occasionally - to the computer - it makes a difference if the camera is connected before or after the connection is activated. Maybe if you just - while connected - turn the camera off and then on again.
