i sometimes get dropped frames when i capture video from my camcorder. the dropped frames are usually never more than 8 frames. sometimes i get 2,3 ,4 or 7. is that ok. should i try to get video without any dropped frames. is there a safe limit to the number of dropped frames one can expect. keep in mind that this is not a dv deck it is my camcorder. Would that make a difference. Thanks as always.

I guess it all depends on what you find acceptable. Even a single dropped frame in the middle of a needed segment can be visible if there is motion, and it can be heard if there is audio. Dropped frames at the beginning of a capture are probably irrelevant.

If your software and PC are behaving correctly, however, you should never get any dropped frames, so you might want to search this board for threads on this topic and see if you can find out why your PC is not keeping up.
