Drop-outs in video capture and print to tape in VV3

I just purchased VV3. I've been a Mediastudio Pro User for sometime but use Vegas Audio at work for editing so decided to try VV3.

I captured DV video from my Sony TRV-20 through a pyro pro firewire card. While editing, I noticed a digital video drop-out and audio flicker here and there. When finished, I rendered the project as an .avi and printed it to tape. Lots of digital drop-outs during the dubbing process and on playback.

This process works fine for Mediastudio Pro so I feel like my system should handle this. My guess is I need to adjust something in VV3...any ideas?

FYI...I'm running a Dell 750P3 with 256ram and video tracks from a 2nd 7200rpm 30gig hard drive in my system. Thanks for your help!!

Make sure DMA is enabled for your hard drives and that they're defragged. Also, check out this FAQ:

I've defragged and checked DMA. I'm getting less dropouts but they're still there. Any other ideas?

Thanks!

I'm actually having the problem generically with the Sonic Video Capture product. I figure if I can't get even that to work in just sending a raw DV file from disk to my camera, I won't be able to do NLE.

SO I have an HP omnibook 6000 with 512 Meg ram, a 900Mhz CPU, a 30Gig drive mostly free and defragged and DMA enabled. I have turned off ACPI via BIOS. I'm using a CardBus 1394 card. All other software has been disabled.

I'm still getting every 5th frame or so dropped on print-to-tape but when I SCAN as in READ from the camera to the computer, I never drop ANY frames! This inconsistency seems odd to me. If I can scan (which is in some way more intensive than print) why can't I print?

I was looking at my task manager and I noticed that none of my available RAM is really being used by the software to spool up all that data. I have 512Megs you think that would help!

Please, anything, this software is useless to me unless I can render and print to tape.
