dropped frames

A few months ago I used Vegas 3.0c to do a Bat Mitzvah video. Capture went perfect. Today, I wanted to try to capture some video and got a mess of dropped frames. The tape was the one as I used before which was the original tape. I use a SVHS tape and captrue it through the Canopus ADVC-100. The computer is a Dell 8250 2.4 Mhz with 512 memory and a 120 Gig drive and a separate 80 gig drive for video.

am I forgetting to do something? Does anyone have a suggestion? I appreciate your input.

Are you aplacations running on a drive other than what you are capturing on? I had this problem at first until I chaged the applcation software to a different drive than the one which was storing the captured footage.
