Dropped Frames

Okay, here's the tech specs.....

AMD 1.01ghtz
Vegas 4
Panasonic pv-dv-402 minidv camcorder
Panasonic pv-dv-701 minidv Camcorder (just got this one)
connection =firewire
video capture location is external firewire harddrive 200gig

...I have never had a problem capturing on the firewire with Vegas from the Panasonic 402. Perfect capture everytime and has done it for well over a year.

The problem is this Panosonic 701...it records/playback fine. Except when it comes to capturing...it consistantly drops 45 to 50 frames for every 3 to 4 minutes of capture. Frame drops start almost the time capture begins.

Any ideas?

Cleaned the heads lately? Capturing to C drive, or an external? Darryl

no i have not cleaned the heads of my new used camcorder which is the panasonic 701. I capture to an external hdd via firewire.

my original camcorder, panasonic 402 is still working perfect.

Anysuggestions about dropped frames with the panasonic 701?

Thanks,

Chris
