dropped frames

How do I solve the problelm of dropped or stuttering (or static) frames when capturing DV video from my Panasonic to Vegas Movie studio? No problem capturing to Windows media movie or Dazzle. Do I have to save in my hard drive (in case my laptpp cannot handle the space needed for the capture) ? Previously captured with a Sony camera with no problem but I must now use my own Panasonic. Try the Kowledgebase FAQ #1017. Lots of good information about things to try.

Were you using firewire to capturing on both cameras? It’s odd that one would work while the other didn’t. Also laptop drives that are only 4200rpm may not be fast enough to keep up with the sustained transfer rate needed for capture.
