Dropping frames?

DMA is turned on. Display settings as low as it
gets. Defraged. 256K RAM. Alloy wheels.
16M video card. No programs running with 84% of
system resources available. Still dropping frames...

I've noticed that I have to turn DMA off to capture without dropping frames, but to print back to tape, I have to turn it on. If I don't have it on, I get a perfect picture, but no sound. It might just be my wacky system, but maybe give it a try.
