Dropping frames

Can someone please help me with this issue. I'm currently working on a huge Wedding project and I'm having no luck what so ever with capturing my video. I have a Sony Vaio Digital Studio PC, 2.20 p4, 1 gig PC 2100 DDR, 120 GB HD with an additional 120 gig HD external. I have Pinnacle 9 Plus and have never lost a frame. I'm losing frames at lightening speed with Vegas 5.0b. I have checked task manager and have nothing running in the background. What's wrong I need help fast.

There sure seem to be a lot of dropped frame issues in the past month. Has something changed recently that would cause lots of users to be having problems, but only with Vegas?

As to specific help, try temporarily disconnecting your external Firewire HD (and any other 1394/Firewire peripherals) and see if that makes a difference. Also, check out this FAQ:
