dropping frames

During Video capture an unacceptable number of frames are being dropped. The only progrm running I think is Norton Antivirus. What can I do?? Never had this problem before.

Definitely shut down the Norton AntiVirus. Do a search on google or other site and look for a program called enditall which shuts down background programs. Run it before starting your editing programs.
Without further info on your system this is the best I can do now.

I am having the same problems. I also disabled all background programs. (NOTE: If you run msconfig you can just uncheck all programs that load at startup and then test it again).

It did not make any difference for me at all. I am still dropping frames like crazy when doing a transfer from tape. I am about to give up in frustration.

I do have NAV installed, but it should be a non-factor since I have deactivated it along with everything else from loading upon startup. Running WinXP Pro...
