Dropping frames on import

pikshirtkr wrote on 9/17/2004, 8:52 AM
I am using my brother's laptop to try to import video from a Canon Optura 20 (Mini DV), The laptop specs are as follows:
Windows XP home SP2
Emachine M5309
XP2500+ (519mhz)
448 mb Ram

I am dropping frames like crazy, video seems to break up or pause constantly while importing? Any past forums on this? I checked but couldn't find... Thanks in advance for any insight.

Resize your preview screen to smallest size, or turn off preview altogether. that should fix the issue.

Dropped Frames

Thanks for the link John, as usual, loaded with good info. I did forget to mention that the video that does get captured, (only about 10 seconds worth because I have it set to stop when frames are dropped), doesn't have any audio file with it for some reason. I try dragging into project window and no audio, yet, I can hear the audio on the camera while it's recording. Very strange. In another program, Cswing, a golf utility that helps you correct your swing, I don't have any problems whatsoever, but video looks like crap when using that to import for some reason. Anyway, I am going to try all the other suggestions from SPOT and the links from John. Thanks guys.
