How ironic - I read that same section of the book just last night, went to the ADS web site and couldn't find the drive Spot refers to. I too would like to get more info on it.

Nice. But will it work for HDV as well as DV? Specification page throws errors.

i dont see why not -- the data rate is the same

It'll store HDV, yes. Using one right this second.
I can't look at the book right now, so don't know if you're referring to a record-to-disk drive, or a storage drive. You can't use the ADS Record-to-disk drive for HDV, it doesn't have the correct front end software. I was just informed at DVEXpo that they are no longer making the direct to disk recorder anyway.

Thanks for the info Spot. I was referring to record-to-disk for HDV. I like the idea of a cheap laptop with DVRack, though. That might be more useful overall.

hmmm...if that link goes to the right page, it'll send you to the Pyro DV Drive page. I've had one of these for over a year. It's, fundamentally, a relabelled Citidisk. For my money and experience, it's unreliable and problemmattic, at best. Not worth the $700 price.
