DSE can i ask you ??

first of all two things
WOW
I just saw the video for the media manager…and my initial reaction is..wow

http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/video/video.asp?Title=Training+%2D+Vegas+%2D+Searching+for+Media&File=training/Vegas6_02_SearchingForMedia&VideoPref=fastrm

I don’t even know Sony had posted video tutorials for Vegas…..wow!!
(sorry I apologize if I am gushing over stuff that’s old news to the rest of the community but…I been busy and I hadn’t really poked around the whole of the Sony site in a while)

listen please
I had heard a lot of negative things about the media manager and…well….i guess from an audio guys perspective I just pre-judged the thing and never gave it a close look
but after seeing the video I am impressed
let me clarify -‡ I am impressed by the potential

and I have basically two things to say

can the media manager be configured so that it’s audio previews are done using a different soundcard and driver than say the rest of the Vegas project is using??
in other words can I have my main Vegas project playing a track (music coming out me speakers) while at the same time I preview sounds in the media manager that I am listening to JUST with my earphones…..and then, say for example drag the desired clips into the main project and mix things up live?
if so then hows about throwing in a VST favorites folder in the media manager and let me mangle those samples , preview ‘em and then unleash these distorted creations into the rest of the real-time mayhem.

secondly, Hey DSE…how about posting a video such as the one noted above but just devoted to mixing?
I am not trying to put you on the …er…spot (sorry no pun intended) plus I know you’re a busy guy. but…
if you look around the audio forum you’ll notice people have been talking about Vegas’ mixing potential and such questions.
please DSE think about it. I know you have a close relationship with Sony , also theres several commercial albums I noticed you have available on Amazon so no doubt the forum members could benefit from your knowledge.

I bought two of your books: digital video and audio production also the Vegas 4 editing workshop (which I just ordered) and let me go out on a limb and say…you probably wont make a book JUST devoted to Vegas audio mixing (fair statement?) so hows about posting a Video like the aforementioned one?

one more thing (thirdly?:0) my hats off to the Sony staff member who thought to post the Video tutorials for Vegas. often you guys just hear our complaints about bugs and criticism/suggestions but we all know you guys are a hard working lot, GJ! also …come to think of it I really appreciate the members here in the audio forum. just recently in fact, Kelly (chienworks) really helped me with a problem (thank-you kindly)…and well ….I am sorry to stump like this and get so long-winded but Im really glad you guys contribute to the Forum and I just hope the coming year brings much success (how-so-ever you define success) to your Video and Audio projects.

wrt to your "preview output" question:

The Media Manager previews through the "preview bus". If you audio hardware provides more than a single output, then you can assign the Preview port to it.

If you have mutliple sound cards, you can have one assigned to the preview port and one assigned to the main mixer. However, you can only do this when using Wave Classic Driver mode.

ASIO does not permit multiple different vendor cards to be accessed at the same time, so your hardware would have to have multiple outputs. On many higher-end audio cards with ASIO drivers, some provide specific monitor outputs or "head phone" mix destinations.
