DSE tickertape mystery

Hello All,

I have downloaded and run the DSE file tickertape.veg. I have inspected everything as much as I can but, for the life of me, I cannot understand what makes it move or what makes it flick! I have looked at Track Motion, Media Generator/Editor, Event Pan/Crop etc etc but still can't see how it works. I have attempted to set up my own but the text just sits there and won't scroll.

I could take the easy way out and edit the text of the demo but I would prefer to know how it actually works. Also, I would like smooth scrolling, not flickery.

Anyone able to fill me here, please?

Regards,
Neil Porter

This must be Neil Porter from the Multisound list. Glad to see your wife hasn't killed you yet!
Sorry I can't help with the tickertape, but relax: someone always comes up with something in this forum.
Good to see you.

Best to check with DSE on the DMN forums. http://www.dmnforums.com

Open the project, and click on "generated media" on the event in the timeline.
You'll see two keyframes - one at the start and one at the end of the timeline in the keyframe area.

The keyframes are the "key".

Checking the Generated Media setup was the first thing I tried. I noticed the first and last keyframes but I can't see what the difference between them is. i.e. the status seems to be the same at each keyframe. When I try to duplicate this from scratch, nothing happens. My text just sits there doing nothing.

Neil,
Open Generated Media. Click on the Placement tab. Then go to the keyframes and click on each. You'll see that the positions (placement) of the text are different. That's what gives it motion.

The 1st KF position is at the left edge of the screen and the 2nd KF has the text off the left edge.
