only calibrating I know about is the colors, and unless you're previewing on them, it's not necessary. If you're previewing on the 2nd monitor that's the only one that needs to be checked, and that's all with the monitor controls (at least that's how I've always done it).

Usually the software that comes with your video card (example: ATI catalist for ati cards) will allow for the various calibration settings.

I've just added a second Dell 22" monitor to my setup. I downloaded Ultra Mon (http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/) and it lets me do lots of adjusting to each monitor independant of the other. I like it! There is a fully functioning demo you can try but I was so impressed I paid for mine within a day.
