The Timeline is the only one that cannot be moved.

<<The Timeline is the only one that cannot be moved.>>

Thanks for the reply.
That's not such a bad thing I guess.
I'll just move most of the others to the second monitor.

You can move the timeline to the second monitor if you move the window, or if you switch the priority of the monitors. The timeline is just not undockable.

In all seriousness-- once you move to dual monitors, you will never, EVER want to go back. I feel so constrained trying to use Vegas, Photoshop, After Effects, etc. on single monitor set-ups now! I've been spoiled!

Yeah, ain't it great. With CRT's being so cheap now, I bought a couple of used Samsung 955DF's flat screen monitors for $100 each, and I'm in hog heaven.Wish there were a way to stop certain programs, (not Vegas), from opening windows between the two screens though.

Yup, I have that problem w/ Windows media player set to full screen!

It's a small price to pay, however!

What Video Card are you guys using? I looked at the ATI Radeon 9800....but the price at Best Buy is $199. Is there anything less expensive out there that will do an acceptable job? Not interested in the bells and whistles......just two monitors for Vegas.

Thanks.

Sure-- I use an Nvidia (I think it's Nvidia-- I don't have the computer in front of me) 440 mx.

I had exactly zero problems setting it up. I picked up the card for somewhere around a hundred bucks a while back at Best Buy.

Cheap = Radeon 7000 VE

http://www.ati.com/products/radeon7000/radeon7000/

I got it for $79 cancadian last year...of course there is better and best for a no frills dual monitor set up this is a good deal....

anyways I also don't use hydravison for Multiple Monitor Management Software, I use mulitmon/ultramon instead....Very nice addition

I use the gexcube 9600 xt 128mb, it has dual video out and comes with the dvi-vga adaptor. Its probably the best mainstream 2d/3d accelerator out. I use use dual monitors with an external video monitor via pd150p firewire and it works great!

Try offsetting the monitors in your properties.

If you're really cheap, go find an inexpensive single-head PCI video card. You can probably find something for $20 or less. Leave your existing AGP card in, add the PCI one in, and Windows should recognize both cards, and give you the option of extending your desktop onto the second card.

I worked this way for years in Premiere before dual-heads came down in price.

I use a Radeon VE (a.k.a. Radeon 7000) dual-head now that works just fine.

Matrox G550 video card is working great for me. Has one DVI and one analog output. Both are plugged into LCDs. Can't really tell the difference between them. Analog looks as good as DVI.
