Dumb Question From The Self Taught

Alright, hate to be so broad and naive in a public question but as someone had a timecode question I need to ask. What is the benefit of timecode other than if your doing a multicam shoot ? Seems like there are a bunch of ways to find a shot and I'm a little confused, just never used em. I'm working on a film right now that I'll be editing and as they're taking notes religiously I'm just wanting to know how I can use the timecode to increase my efficiency. to find a shot and I'm a little confused, just never used em. I'm working on a film right now that I'll be editing and as they're taking notes religiously I'm just wanting to know how I can use the timecode to increase my efficiency.

Would really appreciate any feedback or sagely advise some of you might have before I start importing and jacking around.

Thanks guys.

By having logged all the shots and which ones were good takes you know which ones to capture. Hopefully they've slated them as well but having a list to feed into batch capture can save a lot of time and disk space.

This is a post I made...wow..almost one year ago to the day. We were discussing EDL's and Premiere and why use one (edl that is). This ties into the TC question you ask and also about notes. You mention it is a "film" so this may be a great reply that will fit your needs. (And while the post covers and overview of EDL keep in mind it was before Vegas 5 and before Premiere Pro 1.5 were out)
