DUPLICATE PHOTOS THROUGHOUT PROJECT

HELP!!!!!
I am working on a slide show video for an 8th grade class with about 300 photos with crossfades. My daughter is working with me and is learning how to use VMS6 and I gave her some brief instructions on repositioning photos etc. I have used VMS 6 for about 3-4 years and have never had this problem. (I did not "supervise" her during the entire process.....(she has a child in 8th grade and wanted to help).

Problem: Somehow, I have duplicate photos throughout the project. Both sets are on top of eachother on the same video track. i discovered this by "selecting events to end" to insert photos....
When I did this, I found duplicate photos underneath.
Is there a way to remove duplicates without doing each one individually?
Any suggestions how this could have happened?

I dunno if the Studio version does this, but it's worth a try ...

Right-mouse-button click on the track header (on the left edge of the screen). On the popup menu there may be an option to "expand track layers". If you have this, it will make the track twice as tall and any overlapping events will be split between the upper layer and lower layer of the track. I'm not sure if there's any way to select all of one of the layers, but at least you can see them independently.

As far as how it happened, probably all the pictures were selected and then dragged while the Ctrl key was accidentally held down. I have this happen to me if i've used Ctrl to select multiple events and then forgotten to let up the key before dragging the mouse.

Thanks, Kelly....I really do appreciate your help. You've helped me several time over the last few years...... i do have this feature in VMS 6 and it works great!
On a related subject....is there a way to "detect" duplicate photos in a project? (i.e. used more than once throughout the entire project?)

Thanks again.

Well, once again a "Pro" feature, but it's worth looking ...

In the Project Media window switch to "detail" view and you'll see a spreadsheet listing of all the media. One of the columns is "Use Count" which shows you how many times each piece of media is used on the timeline. Couple of caveats though: a regular video file will usually have a count of 2 because it's actually 2 events, one video and one audio, and if you split an event each piece gets counted separately.

Also, if you right-mouse-button click in the project media window you can "select timeline events" and this will highlight them on the timeline.
