Duplicate text style

I just posted the bug report/feature suggestion below. Does anybody know of a workaround for this? Or just SOMETHING that can easen my frustration of not being able to copy the style (size, positioning, color, effects) from one Generated Media text to another (without ruining the text itself)!?

--------------------------

Suggestion:
I'm wondering if this is a bug:
When using the "Text" Media Generator there is an option to save a Preset, which could be very useful it if worked the same way as the pre-installed presets. When using pre-installed presets, such as "Default Text" or "Solid Background", all the *properties* (size, colors, effects) of the text is changed, but the text itself is not changed. When using your own presets, it affects the text itself. This means that if you add text media to a project and then change your mind about the style of the text, you need to manually change every text media to have those properties, when you would like to just set a preset on every media - which you can with the preinstalled prefix. (Even if you decide on style before adding text, it's cumbersome to have to remember setting the Preset before editing the text).
If this is a bug please fix it; if it's intended please add this feature as this is one of the biggest setbacks when editing video in Vegas. Per project presets (as opposed to the "global" presets) would be an even better idea, from my perspective.

I have a license to Vegas 4 (4.0e) but see the same applies to Vegas 5.0b trial.

Benefits:
It would be SOOOOOO much easier getting homogenous texts in your Vegas projects.

Has been seen...:
Haven't looked at other NLEs since I found Vegas, but most text processing software nowadays have this feature. Most typical example is Microsoft Word where you can create styles and even update styles which affect all text that use that particular style.

It would be nice if Paste Event Attributes allowed you to transfer type style, etc, but alas, it doesn't seem to.

Indeed that would be an alternative. I belive an equivalent feature exists in Corel Draw.

My workaround is to create the 3-5 text styles that I'll have in a project, complete with whatever attributes I'd like that style to have, including blurs, fade in/fadeout, opacity, etc. and 'store' them at the beginning and/or end of my project timeline. Then when I need the first few, I hold CTRL while clicking on my title "palette' and drag to where I need that style. As I move down the timeline, I continue doing this from the last similar style. Then all I have to do is change text and nothing else. Works great.
But having storable, dedicated templates would be wonderful

I am dealing with this same problem. I have a video where I carefully typed in the names of 30 children and overlayed the title on their pictures. Unfortunately, the font I chose was lost (long story -- computer crashed, etc.) I could not replace the original font and the default titles did not work with the settings I had, so I had to retype all of my text.

I appreciate many things about Vegas, but I also find that it is missing some basic functions which are extremely irritating. The first is the idea that you cannot have a preset font without retyping the text each time. The second has to do with transitions which I won't get into here.

I would really like a workaround for this problem. Are there any scripts which address the preset font problem?

And if you change your mind about any of the style after you've made 5 or 30 or ... copies?

You achieve about the same as you do by saving presets and then selecting the preset BEFORE editing the text on each "clip". But the problem is when you want to change font, color etc on all those clips.
