Duplicating files used in a project

Hi All,

In Vegas 5 is there a function that will allow me to collect & dupilcate all the
files located in the meda pool into a new folder. Some graphics programs have a "collect fo output" funtion that gathers everything used in the build and duplicates it into a new folder. This is what I would like to do--for file archiving purposes. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

File-Save As-Copy and Trim Media

Be sure to place this new "saved" set of files in it's own directory. At that point everything you need for theproject is contained in that directory. Note however that what you have is JUST the media (trimmed) to the events you have in your project.

For instance... if you have a 1 hour video of which you have selected just 10 minutes for use in your project - that is what you will have in this "trimmed" version. There will be some "slack" but not much. So if you need to be able to go back to the original in order to do more extensive editing you will need to hold onto the original files and the original Veg file.

Clean the media before you do anything, else all the unused stuff will be copied as well.
When you save-as-copy, you have the option to copy the original files (untrimmed) or make trimmed copies. You can control how much "slack" to keep in the trimmed copies.
Never save-as-copy to the same directory as you're working in, because vegas will write new copies of the files to the directory, rather than simply reusing the existing files. And since you cannot truly delete the files you're not using, you'll wind up with a wasteful mess.
