DV Bridge Suggestions

So, thanks to all you wonderful taxpayers out there, I get to use a lot of top of the line production and post-production equipment at work. However, my paycheck is far less generous, and I can't afford the DVX-100 I'm drooling over for yet, so I ned to make do with what I have for now, which is analog. While I can capture it just fine through my vidcard, I'd rather save some drive space and use DV Bridge, but before investing anything, I wanted to gather opinions about which one is best, most reliable, etc.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I do not recommend the Dazzle Dv hollywood bridge: very unreliable in my experience...Many/most speak very highly of the canopus products....

There again, I do strongly recommend the DVX-100!! It is a very nice Av/dv bridge, albeit an extremely expensive one... ;-)
regards

Paul.

Thanks Paul. I read good reviews on the Dazzle bridge, but was hoping for actual feedback. Now that I have it, I'll take a gander at the canopus version.

I agree, the DVX-100 would make one helluva dv bridege.. I hear you can even get it to shoot video too... ahhh someday....

anyone wanna loan me $3k? I'll pay 85% interest back @ $17.50/ month..

I have probably missed something (if so, forgive me in advance), but why wouldn't you just use the pass-through on a standard DV camcorder? This is how I capture from external sources, and it blows away anything I can do with my capture card. Of course, if you are looking for something better than 4:1:1 DV, then I can understand why this wouldn't be good enough.
