DV Camera Question

Can most mini-DV cameras pipe video out the firewire/1394 port without actually recording to tape?

I'd like to capture video direct from the camera without actual recording to tape...

Yes, DV cams (to my knowledge) all DV cameras send vid/audio when in camera mode. We capture video to the Nnovia all the time with no tape running or even in our camcorder. HUGE timesaver. We did a 4 hour shoot today, due to no capture time, I'm nearly done editing this already
