dv codec problems

jeremykorb wrote on 10/19/2000, 3:27 AM
I just bought a siig 1394 board to use with vegas 2.0. I
instaled the board, and have not been able to use vegas'
full feature's yet.

I cannot view on an an external monitor using my DVcam.
Nor can I play any of the clips with windows media player
(vesion 7)

Since I cannot play these captured DV clips with the media
player, I am wondering if I am lacking the DV codec with my
system setup.

any suggestions?

I am running:

Intel PIII 733
VIA apollo chipset on a DFI mainboard
siig 1394 board
20 gig dma/66 drive
et al

Do you possibly have CODECS still installed from a non OHCI card?
Are you possibly trying to run avi's in Media Player 7 that were
captured from a non OHCI card? I had all your problems and more due
to non OHCI cards. I had to take my PC and dunk it in the Gulf of
Mexico to clean out the Adobe Premiere virus, and then had to ensure
the Adobe software CDs were at least 500 yards away from the PC.
Once I did that everything started jelling as advertised.
Good Luck

Acutally, yes, I previously had a Pinnacle Systems DV200 card
installed. (definitely not OHCI) I have since removed it and all of
it's drivers and helper software.

I guess it's time to format the drives and start from scratch!!
thanks,
jeremy

That's what I would do. Sell that Pinnacle virus on eBay, then slick
your HDDs, instal the SIIG Card again, and make sure you don't
install any of the crapware that may have come with it, then install
VV. Also make sure you have DMA checked on your HDDs if applicable.
A few hours of work, but you will then be amazed and in delight.

Good Luck

I removed the pinnacle card. Then I formatted my system drive and
installed win2kpro from scratch. After installing VV, everything
works perfectly...

Everything works great. Thanks for your help... I plan to put the
pinnacle card on ebay this week...
