Dv Converter (dazzle hollywood) problem????

Hey, Im using Vegas 6 and...
I'm having problems with my recently bought dazzle hollywood dv converter. It has been advertised that instead of previewing through the standard vegas window that i can connect a normal analog television to the dv converter and it previews through that via fire wire 1394. However for some reason or another this isnt working i have got all the plugs in the right place: fire wire from laptop to dv converter, video out and audio out from the dv converter to the video in and audio in through to the televsion.

Anybody happen to have any possible solutions to my problem is greatly appreciated...

cheers.

sometimes I've had a problem with the IEEE output. what fixed it for me was to hit the "reset to default" and then apply, Close the pref. window, re open, and then set it for IEEE again and apply.

if that doesn't help ya - I'd blame the converter (Dazzle has screwed me more times than I can count.... and I can count pretty high).

I had one given to me by a very cool friend and it works great. But ya have to fiddle with it sometimes to get your firewire preview to work. Try getting your Vegas environment set up, then press Preview On External Device. If that doesn't work, try unplugging it and plugging back in, if not, try unplugging the firewire in and out. Press the little button on the top back a couple times till ya see a green light on front..........sacrifice a live chicken, spill beer on it, cussing helps.

I've always been able to get mine to boot up.

Press and hold IN the "reset" button on the back WHILE inserting the low voltage power supply to it. Wait for the green lights to cycle through.

They are the greatest heap of junk ever, period.
Perhaps OK just to drive a monitor, at least the worse that you'll loose is some hair.

Bob.

Edit:

Probably being a bit harsh, just had some really bad experiences with that box but I think someone bought Dazzle so maybe, just maybe they fixed the problems.

I'd try what Grazie suggest but also something that from memory was far from clear in the destructions (last time I looked) the connectors on the back are the outputs, the ones on the front the inputs. Now the tricky part always seemed to be convincing the box which way around you wanted it to work. I thing there's a push button to change direction and a couple of LEDs to show which way around it thinks it's supposed to be going (i.e. A->D or D->A), try all!
