DV decks

I am a relative newbie to professional editing. I have edited many projects, but it is getting painfully obvious that I need a DV deck for bringing in other people's tapes (as well as my own to save my camera from the rigors of capturing). I am wanting a deck that can import Hi8, Digital8, and MiniDV (VHS if possible). What decks are out there that could do this for me? SOFO and Sony are great products, and this is always a helpful forum! Thanks in advance!!

I think you are in for at least 2 possibly three decks for the different formats

Panny and sony both make great DV decks,, not sure about hi 8 and digital8

I have only seen 1 Hi8 deck in my life and it belongs to a friend of mine. It will not play digital 8 tapes, but my remote from my TRV-350 will control it, found that out accidentally. Never seen a D8 deck other than a camera. i agree with risce1, you are in for several decks if you can find them.

I bought a $400 Canon zr 70 as a "deck", to save wear on my GL1.... and serves as a handy backup. You may want to look into inexpensive camcorders in the various tape formats you need.
