DVDA1 and 2 are well known for not being able to work with some burners, some media or some combinations of burners and media. Not sure if 3 is any better or not.

Make sure you have the latest update from the downloads page, and if that doesn't do it, then burn with Nero or CopyToDVD - oh, and report the problem to Sony formally, along with specifics on the burner and media being used.

Assuming you meant to type DVD-R, 'cause I have no idea what a DV-R disc is... :)

What version of DVDA? Include the release letter at the end.
What brand is the disc?
What brand and model is the burner?
What is the exact error message? Any error number included?

Although it shouldn't matter if your other software (Nero, etc) work fine, it would not hurt to flash the latest firmware into your DVD burner.

Here is a starting place to find the latest firmware for a variety of DVD and CD burners.
