I am importing a DV video (dv avi) and when i go to project properties i have MOTION BLUR TYPE & DEINTERLACE METHOD....

I don't want any effect or anything to change my video... so what should i set them?

Gausian, pyramid, box etc.... ?
and what about the DEINTERLACE METHOD ? or these settings have nothing to do with the later rendering?

My videos are always render as PAL DV (BEST)

Hi Strange,

>>>"I don't want any effect or anything to change my video... so what should i set them?"<<<<

You might set them to NONE.

If you are rendering to progressive, you might use the interpolation.

tHANK YOU for your reply...

Deinterlace method has the option "none" but the motion blur type hasn't an option "none".

So what should i choose in motion blur type?

Hi Strange,

This is new in V4.... V3 had "none".

I can only assume that no blurring will occur unless a blur envelope is added to the video bus. You might also bypass the blurring with the button in the track header.

Perhaps a SoFo guru will add a coment on this.

IMO I don't think any of these settings have an effect unless you turn them on somewhere else, ie: deinterlace method shouldn't make a different on your final render unless you specify you want that render to be progressive in the custom dialog. These settings are where they are I *think* so that you can set your proj. perferences & have more accurate previews.

Thank you both for your time and replies....

So can anybody from SF confirm that these settings are for preview?

Thank you

These settings are only used when needed.

- If you are not deinterlacing video, the deinterlace setting doesn't matter. If you are, it will be used. When would you be deinterlacing video? If your source and destination field orders don't match, if you're using pan/crop or track motion, certain FX or Transitions. I would recommend leaving it at it's default (Blend fields) unless you have a reason to change it.

- Motion Blur Type (Vegas 3): Motion blur is switched on by this setting, so if you don't want motion blur, set it to "None".

- Motion Blur Type (Vegas 4): Only used if you have a Motion Blur Envelope on the Video Bus Track, otherwise it's off.

These settings apply to the preview if your preview quality is set to "Good" or "Best".
