DV to HD or HDV Benefits and US with V7

Hi again... Vegas is the only software i feel i know a thing or two about thanks to the help of this forum's memebrs, I'v been posting too many threads lately & i hope its Ok.

About a year ago i captured 25 Hi8's and 15 miniDV tapes and scanned more than 1000 pictures (all are family stuff), i have no clue how am i gonna Edit those, everything seems scrambled, so it doesnt look like a 1-2 week project but a 6 months process.

Anyways will i benefit "in anyway" (future wise) if i render as HD/HDV (whats the diffrence)?

i will use Ultimate S to crop all 4:3 footage to 16:9, but am thinking when the Media is out and fairly priced, a 25GB or so Blue-ray DVD will hold much more footage than a 4.7 DVD right now, that way i could have the best of those 40 tapes put on 3 to 4 Blue-ray disks.

i Know i wont benefit Image Quality wise with HD/HDV rendering but maybe am missing somthing.

Second Q: on VASST site, i tried logging in using the email account i purchased US with but it states my email is not on their Database! i sent an email but no one responded so i thought maybe there busy right now with the release of V7 and all the Serial number updates, anyone had the same issue with sign-in?

Personally, I'd create the best DV footage you can right now, and not worry about upsizing to HDV. I think the upsizing tools/algorithms will only keep getting better. I'm sure there are millions of people in the target market just like you and I. You can't really "create" HD data that's not there in the first place, but I'm sure some mathematicians/engineers are currently working on better algorithms to upsize.

If you insist on HD now, shoot for 720p so the upsizing is not as drastic as 1080i.

fldave, thank for the Reply:

"I'd create the best DV footage you can right now"

but i dont think i want to go threw the Editing process twice, Unless ill be able to open the Veg file and just change the Render As settings, that might be an Option.

i wonder what would the upsizing tools come up with? i dont know if there are any tools i am not aware of at the moment that will make my fathers very old Hi8's any better.

i Delayed the Editing process for many years just because i dont know what method i should go, and if i keep it that way it will never happen.

thanks fldave
