DV to Video Problem

After I create a timeline and render it to Windows Video AVI, I played it back through the svideo port on my laptop to my tv and it looks horrible (very blurry). Now if I play the original tape through my camcorder connected to my tv throught the RCA port, it looks fine. Is my problem with the render to avi or is it a hardware problem with the svideo port on my laptop? Will it help if I try to render to MPEG2, DVD instead of Windows video AVI?

It would be down to the way you are putting it out via s-video.

Vegas outputs full DV quality through firewire. This can be done by rendering to a single avi and using the Capture utility to output to tape, or simply export from the timeline using tools > Print to tape.

Either will put the DV onto a DV device connected to your firewire port - either a camera or a Mini DV vcr.
