DV type 1 or type 2

Capturing tapes I have option to capture as DV type 1 or Type 2 ... as far as I can figure out Vegas uses either with no difference.

(using WinDV)

I know the difference between the types, is either format better or considered better for capture for later edit in Vegas ?

Vegas uses Type 2 AVI files.
There is confusing terminology in this respect, however.
"Version 2" AVI refers to OpenDML, which Vegas also supports.
I think I got that right.
