actually a number of projects now won't open in DVD-A... having a hard time taking this software seriously for Blu-Ray... this is week two i've been working on this (and it looked so simple a goal last monday)
1) consistently, DVD-A software will cause BSOD on my computer (blue screen, reboot) whenever i select "Make Blu-Ray" from the File dropdown menu. i deduce this from the fact that ImgBurn and other BluRay software i have installed has NO problem recognizing and/or burning discs using an LG BluRay burner... i cannot even prepare a disc if this drive is installed... but only DVD-A does this... not even Encore... so i create the ISO with the burner unplugged and then use other software to create the BD... sigh.
but it doesn't really matter because...
2) anytime i go over 30-40 video files, once i close the project DVD-A will not recognize the project as valid. DVD-A simply says "is not a valid project". I have built a number of projects now, each with new files using a variety of codecs (lagarith/avi, 10bitDNxHD/QT, 8bitMotionJPEG-A/QT)... it makes no difference: the moment i close the project and try to re-open it, it says "not a valid project"... it doesn't happen when a project has only 10 or 20 files... but once some magic number is passed, it happens every time (in the last week of testing at least)
so...
is there anyone who has actually made a 1280x720@23.976 AVC using DVD-A? not just a one-shot or "i made this in 2 minutes" (i've made a half-dozen of those), but a full BluRay disc with 30-40 files (75-90 minutes runtime), links for each file on the root, and a playlist? plz contact me, i think i'd like to check your *.DAR project file to see what's different.
also
been told by many Encore sucks... my time spent with Encore tends to agree... are these two apps the only one's for authoring BluRay on PC if i don't want to spend $15000?
i've used DVD-A for years and it was great for DVD's but i haven't seen a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g good about it for Blu-Ray other than my familiarity with the interface. i'd prefer to move on to something more reliable / less time-wasting.
