DVD Architect 1.0 cant register or buy.

I own vegas 4.0 which has Architect 1.0 bundled with it. I am unable to get it registered. I called sony but all they would do is sell me vegas 5.0 +DVD. I must admit that I am unable to purchase more software now. The 1.0 seemed to be all I would need to burn dvd's. I have been watching ebay for a copy but no joy yet. I want to know is there any dvd burning software that would work just as well or be compatible with vegas 40? I need some suggestions.
Thanks

Please explain: Does this mean you bought Vegas 4.0 and now you want DVDA along with it, or did you buy Vegas 4.0 with DVDA, but you can't get the DVDA component registered? What's stopping you? Did you get a serial number for both Vegas and DVDA? If you paid for DVDA 1.0, there is no reason you shouldn't be able to use it. What's happening when you try to install and register it (if this is the case)?

On the other hand, if you bought Vegas 4.0 but not DVDA 1.0, I'm not sure if there's anything you can do other than upgraded to Vegas 5.0 and DVDA 2.0 or use something else. Not too many software companies will sell you an old version of their program when a new one is available...

How about buying Vegas+DVD's little brother, Vegas Movie Studio+DVD. It's $100 and comes with DVD Architect Studio, which is basically the same thing as DVD Architect 1.0 (same features, even some of the same bugs! ;).

I want to know is there any dvd burning software that would work just as well or be compatible with vegas 40? I need some suggestions.

Compatability shouldn't be too much of an issue. Video files are not proprietary -- you use Vegas to create an MPEG2 file, which most DVD apps had better support just fine. The issue will be what format you should use for audio. Most DVD authoring apps accept WAV. / PCM Some accept AC3, some accept MPG audio, and some accept both. Vegas can produce any of these, so just do whatever the app will accept. (The DVD Architect Studio I mentioned accepts WAV / PCM.)

Thanks for reply.
I bought vegas 4.0 and it also had 1.0 included. I recieved a serial no. for 4.0 but not dvda. When I open 1.0 it shows the software as being registered to me. When I try and use it it directs me to insert serial #.

Then you should also have received a manual for DVDA. The serial number is printed on the front page of the manual - it's a different number than what is used for Vegas.

When you bought Vegas+DVD, did you download them or did you get them on CDs? If you downloaded them, the serial number for DVDA is in the same e-mail as the one for Vegas. If you bought them on CD, the serial number for DVDA is in the DVDA manual (or Quick Start guide).

All I have is the original disc. I dont have manuals. I didn't download software.
I am just hating not to be able to use what seems to be pretty good software.
What about nero for dvd's?

Thanks

Sounds like you purchased Vegas but NOT DVDA. The DVDA on your CD is simply the demo. If you purchased Vegas + DVD initially you would have gotten two separate serial numbers. You'd be better off upgrading the Vegas 4 to Vegas5+DVD as there are MANY improvements in DVDA2.

If you are running Windows 98SE you can't "upgrade" to Vegas 5 + DVD without upgrading your OS to Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Just so you know.

I'm running window xp. I just like the idea of seamless workflow. This is the reason I really wanted dvd 1.0

Thanks

Why would DVDA1 be more seamless than DVDA2???

I think he's thinking that DVDA would be more seamless than software from another company. I also think he's thinking DVDA 1 since he thought he already had it, as compared to DVDA 2 which he knew he'd have to pay money for.

That't correct on both counts.
