Hi. I'm a newbie to video editing and after checking out the various software available decided on Vegas 5 + DVD2 as my best option. The programs were installed on windows XP pro...Vegas working OK then tried DVD Architect 2 which after the splash screen displayed an error meessage relating to default themes not being available and recommend to re instal also quoting error code 0x80004005 Start up code 26. I checked the forum and also contacted Sony medis software each giving the same workaround i.e. install under administrator and check the allow check boxes under security tab of properties. This I have done but I still get the same error code. I have also on my machine Nero burning ROM...does thgis have aconflict with DVD Arch?has anybody else had this problem and is ther a solution please?
Thanks in advance
Richard

You said you checked the other threads relating to this error code, but what the heck, I'll ask anyhow:

If you check the Sony / DVD Architect directory in Program Files, is there a directory called thems? And is there also one called _Themes directory? And if so, does that directory have a directory called default20.thm? You should have all of these.

Are any of the files in the Sony / DVD Architect 2.0 directory set as read-only? What about the folders themselves (including the DVD Architect 2.0 one)? You need to have write access to these.

When you try to run the program, are you logged in as an adminsitrator or as a user with administrator rights? If not, what happens when you try?

I have also on my machine Nero burning ROM...does thgis have aconflict with DVD Arch?

I should think not -- half the people here use Nero to burn the discs that they prepare with DVD Architect! ;-)

Thanks for your reply Rob. I have now installed DVD Arch on a different partion on the hard drive and it now starts and I hope works. As you point out comparing the files on the seperate partions the _Themes file is missing on my first attempt at installing the software, which indeed the error message was telling me, but there is also a file in both marked Themes which threw me into confusion ( not difficult at my age) anyway off we go the learn about video editing and creation.

Thanks again
