DVD Architect 3

Greetings. I am wondering if there is any source for a clear and concise tutorial for this software. Previously, I had a Postbox with a Pioneer burner attached which I could use as easily as a VTR. I have the quick start manual...but it reminds me in some ways of the old DOS manuals. That is, it seems some very minor but key points are glossed over or assumes that I know something that I don't. I found CD Architect very intuitive, and even in Vegas when I've stumbled...have been able to quickly navigate to an information source to correct my error. I'm almost to the point of figuring out the starting points in DVD Architect...but my experience with other Sony software tells me I'm missing something. To meet a deadline, I exported my project to tape...and hooked my DV deck to my Pioneer burner and got it done...barely. Everything I read prior said how easy & intuitive DVD Architect was. I'm afraid with this software..at present I'm an idiot! Any pointers to a PDF or HTML source for a simple, hold-your-hand tutorial would be appreciated! Thanks. - dlh

If you have the quick start manual, then I'm guessing you also have the DVD Architect installation CD (or Vegas Movie Studio installation CD). That CD should also have the full size manual in PDF form. The full manual is also available for download. Also, all the information contained in the full manual is also in DVD Architect's online help.

For the record, I seem to recall my DOS 5.0 and DOS 6.22 manuals being quite detailed; much more so than what comes with any version of Windows these days. ;-)

Strictly my own 2 cents worth ;-)
The big problem I had, & I think many (most?) others have had as well, is that there's not a good guide printed that explains DVDs. In fact if you buy the specs, you have to sign an NDA. So the 1st thing I'd recommend would be to search out and at least skim almost anything you find online about DVD creation.

Then I'd suggest going through the manual, then browsing this forum & probably searching vaast. While it's a decent program, DVDA in my opinion just isn't as popular among the enthusiasts who make up the How-To guides -- I don't recall ever seeing one on DVDA.

Hi, Just adding a bit. Thanks to you who supplied info. I was right in that I was on the verge of figuring what my initial problem was...and have since burned a very nice looking disk. One issue that totally confused me was that the Menu title that comes up as a default for the Menu page looks like a button. Another is, I have yet to see anywhere that it concisely tells you to render a seperate audio file with the excat same name as the MPG2 file...and that the audio will self load by simply selecting the video clip. I apologize for the earlier slur on DOS. I was using it as a general term for many early manuals that assumed you knew 10 cents worth of info about code or text strings, etc....when maybe all you knew was 2 cents. A simple little PDF tutorial that walked through each step of assembling each type of disk would be extremely handy for 1st time users. Thanks again. - dlh
