DVDA 3 reached its end-of-life a full five years ago.
In that time, operating systems, hardware interfaces, and burners have all advanced to new versions.
Even if you provided your system specs, I doubt you will find anyone here still using it.
;?)

Maybe time to upgrade your software? Vegas 6 doesn't even support HD.

Rigor, I have one old machine here still running DVDA 3.0 on XP. When we went to a USB burner on that machine there were often problems if you selected "burn" on the "Make DVD" options. Selecting "prepare" first and letting it make the build, then selecting "burn" from the previously prepared folder works for us consistently.

I'm assuming you didn't upgrade your machine like you didn't upgrade Vegas, so a reinstall might help. I never burned in DVDA ~90% of the time, I use Nero. It gives me more options. I occasionally had issues burning like you.
