DVD architect 4 will not load in vista. Tried to download update but ISP connection is too slow, it times out. Is there a source for an updated disk? Tried to contact sony but couldn't complete on line form. They asked for information on a SCS file, what is a SCS file and how can I find it if I can't load the program?

SCS stands for Sony Creative Software. Those parts of the form are simply telling you to run whatever Sony software you're trying to get help on and use its About screen to find the information they want. You're right, though, if you can't run the program you can't get that information for them. Kind of short-sighted on their part to make those required fields.

At any rate, I don't believe that DVD Architect 4 is officially supported under Vista. There's a chance they'll just tell you, "Sorry, can't help you there." Couple things you can try:

1. I don't have Vista, but I assume it still has the option for you to change the "compatibility mode" for programs. In Windows XP, the process is: Right-click the icon for DVD Architect, choose Properties, and select the Compatibility tab. There, check the box to turn on compatibility mode and choose the OS that you're pretty sure the program would run on (ie, Windows XP). I would guess that the process under Vista is similar, but check the Vista online help to be sure.

2. If that fails, check the knowledgebase. I tried a minute ago, but it's flaking out for me. You might have better luck.

3. If all else fails, reinstall DVDA. Maybe there was just a glitch in your installation.

For the record, what exactly happens when you try to run DVD Architect? Do you get an error message or just no response at all?
