DVD Architect 7.0 after the last major Windows update

raymond-ackaouy wrote on 12/1/2021, 2:39 AM

Hello,

I can now ONLY use the main page of the menu. The others freeze the play on the PC or on any Blu Ray player...
I know now for sure my problem is 3D Full HD related (Sony avc mvc project). If I play my Blue Ray in 2D everything works...
If I chose another 3D mode (anaglyphs) that works also.

It looks like my only option is to dedicate a PC with Windows 8 installed (what a nightmare !) only for the making of any 3D Full HD Blue Ray...

Running DVD Architect in Windows 8 mode does not solve anything... Windows 10 is now probably missing some component needed for mastering a 3D Full HD Blue Ray with menu (still works without a menu).
Please tell me what you think about it.

It looks like I am the last dinosaur using 3D Full HD but I know I am not the only 3D fan !

Are you saying that the program works fine EXCEPT that the discs it produces will only display a main menu?

If so, that's by no means related to the operating system.

It could be an issue with how your disc player reads 3D DVDs or BluRays. Though I don't know why you'd have problems with both a disc player and your computer's disc drive. Is your disc player by any chance a Sony?

Hello !

My disc player is a Sony but the problem is the same on the PC with Corel Win DVD...

I can see the other menu page (sometimes only the second as the arrow keys freeze the play but if I click on any button either the play freeze or it does nothing. I cannot include a project but everything used to work fine before the last major Windows update.

On DVD Architect everything works as expected in Preview mode !

I do not have any hair left. I must say again this is only in 3D Full HD...

I know now why everything works in Preview mode... Because the Preview mode is in 2D ! As soon as I try to play in 3D Full HD everything freeze if I try to use any button on the second menu page (on any system). Windows is clearly the guilty guy !!!

Maybe. But again I'm just not sure how the operating system could be the issue.

Try going to your computer manufacturer's site (HP, Compaq, Dell, etc.). Locate the support for your model of computer and install the manufacturer's firmware for your disc drive (which is sometimes different than what Windows installs). That's fixed odd problems like this for me more than once.

I thank you for keeping in touch ! Unfortunately I doubt the Blu Ray Firmware could be the cause but any ways I cannot find the firmware on the LG site for this disk writer (M-Disc LG BH16N55)...

This is true I cannot remove that option as my 3D player on the PC does not take ISO files...

raymond-ackaouy wrote on 12/4/2021, 10:55 AM

And everything was working fine with the same hardware before the Windows major update !

raymond-ackaouy wrote on 12/5/2021, 2:33 AM

Thank you Steve: you gave me a moment of hope... I did flash my Disc Burner with the last firmware but unfortunately that did not change anything...

I guess Windows like NVIDIA does not support any longer some 3D features. My only choice is to use a special older PC with Windows 8 for DVD Architect if I want to keep its nice features !

Steve Grisetti wrote on 12/5/2021, 7:56 AM

Remember, you want the firmware from your computer's manufacturer (HP, Compaq, Dell, etc.), NOT the firmware provided by the equipment manufacturer. (Assuming the drive was installed at the factory.)

But it could be you're right. Magix has chosen to no longer support DVD Architect, and this may be the reason why.

Of interest which major Windows update? Which Edition, version and build are you now on?

raymond-ackaouy wrote on 12/6/2021, 4:54 AM

My problems started with Windows 21H1. I use today the OS Build 19043.1348.Thank you for your interest. Are you a 3D fan ?

EricLNZ wrote on 12/6/2021, 4:59 PM

@raymond-ackaouy Sorry, no I'm not a 3D fan. I'm old enough to remember when 3D first came out many years ago, then faded away. Now it's been tried again and has faded yet again. Maybe third time lucky in the future?

I asked for build details as it could be useful if anyone else has the same problem. Interestingly my Build is 19043.1387 on Windows Home 21H1. You can only hope that Microsoft with a later update might undo whatever they have done to cause your problem!

raymond-ackaouy wrote on 12/7/2021, 2:36 AM

Unfortunately I don't have the lesser hope... Every morning I have to reinstall the last NVIDIA driver supporting 3D. Windows replace it at start up.... I am convinced the next birth of 3D will be the good one as too many people hate carrying glasses and that will be solved ! Marketing made the worse in introducing the sequential glasses : most of people cannot tolerate this way. It was a great idea but all movies theater went back to polarized system : the two eyes see at the same time and 3D is a wonderful feature.

I have a Sony 3D camcorder and I made great 3D movies on my trips around the world. Too bad Sony did not tell I had to be in Manual mode, not in Auto. This is why I reedit my movies to give them the depth I get in Manual. But now I cannot any more put any nice menu, not even a breakpoint which freeze the player (either PC or Disc Player).

I have no idea how to report this to Windows and I bet they do not care (like NVIDIA)...

Best Regards

Hello ! I am happy to tell you a caught the beast... I knew we should not replace any (ANY) default folder but i had made an exception for the folder in which I put the compiled file... Worse, this folder was in the D Drive, not on C.
It took me one year to decide to keep ALL default folders and now it looks like DVD Architect works like before in 3D Full HD. These restrictions does not seem important in 2D...

Great. I've tagged your post as "The Solution".

Just a little shade... I have the menus back but I lost the breakpoints (I cannot use the Next button on my remote control). "Nobody is perfect..."
