Not sure if anyone has this drive, but it's a relatively new super multi DVD burner from LG. It has a USB 2.0 interface and a firewire interface. Since my PC doesn't have USB 2.0, I'm using firewire (a Belkin half-height PCI card with a Texas Instruments chipset on it).
I'm running Windows XP Pro and have installed SP2. I've updated the LG burner with the latest firmware from LG, but it had no impact on resolving this issue.
I have the latest updates for DVD Architect (1.0d, Build 230). I haven't upgraded to 2.0 yet since I'm relatively new to this and definitely have no reached the limits of DVD Architect 1.0 or Vegas 4.0.
Symptoms: When I go to 'Make DVD' in DVD Architect, and I get to the screen where it allows you to select a DVD burner from a dropdown list, that option is greyed out for me -- I can't choose the drive! And that's when it's working the best. Most of the time, when I click Make DVD, the program freezes and never returns from la la land. The only way I can get it to recover is to turn off my LG drive. As soon as Windows gives me the 'BaBum' noise, telling me the drive is no longer available, DVD Architect starts running again. The drive seems to work fine with other programs.
Question: I have heard that there are some firewire driver issues in XP. Could that be causing my troubles? After just a few days of Vegas/DVD I am hooked and I'd really like to solve this problem! Help me if you can!
Thanks!
Phil
