DVD Architect NTSV Template Question

What's the difference/advantage to rendering with the DVDA video stream Template, then rendering a separate .ac3 audio file, for DVD Authoring/burning in DVDA? For quite some time I have been rendering my work from Vegas to DVD NTSV, and letting DVDA re-encode the audio to .ac3. But thinking that the re-encode to .ac3 was a time consuming, redundant step, I tried a few DVDA video stream/separate .ac3 renders and the time was about the same as a DVD NTSV render. Is the only difference/advantage that DVDA doesn't have to re-encode the audio to .ac3 (saves 10 minutes for 30 minutes of audio)? Or is there a quality issue as well, insofar as I am using DVDA to burn?

Thanks guys/gals.
