I transferred my Vegas software's on my new PC. Old one with Windows 7, New one with Windows 8. Vegas pro is working very well. DVD Architect Pro 6.0 could not start properly. When I launched it, error window appeared with following information:

Problem Description
Application Name: DVD Architect Pro
Application Version: Version 6.0 (Build 237)
Problem: Unmanaged Exception (0xc0000005)
Fault Module: C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\DVD Architect Pro 6.0\dvdarch60.exe.exe
Fault Address: 0x0000000061C0CCF9
Fault Offset: 0x0000000061C0CCF9

Fault Process Details
Process Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\DVD Architect Pro 6.0\dvdarch60.exe.exe
Process Version: Version 6.0 (Build 237)
Process Description: DVD Architect Pro

If I sent the message to Sony support, this window was disappearing and DVD Architect could not start. If I kept the windows open, after few minutes, DVD Architect open but did not work properly. I could not calculate disk authoring.

Solution:
I dis-installed Quicktime. After that, DVD Architect worked properly.
It seems that Quicktime disturbs DVD Architect software.

JF

Quicktime is required for Vegas to read/write MOV amd MP4 files. Try getting hold of an earlier/later version.

jeff, Quicktime is unknown to DVDAPro - there is no relationship at all. So your conclusion is quite mis-information.

Note that Adobe Encore is a DVD authoring app that does depend on Quicktime.

Never-the-less, installed programs can interfere with one another, although not apparently related. Perhaps it is a DLL at fault or a registry entry. I have had conflicts where re-installation in a different order fixes the problem.

Hi Peter,
Thank you for your comments.
I don't know at all the relationship between quicktime and DVDAPRO.
I found this trick in a forum and it worked.
I am now creating bluray disks. Once I will have finished I will try to reinstall quicktime. I will post the results.

Quicktime has sometimes been problematic with Vegas as well. See this recent thread:

I re_installed quicktime.
DVDAPRO is still working.

I do not understand why it was not before.
It is a new PC with quicktime already installed.
I moved my Vegas softwares to my new PC.
I had a problem only with DVDAPRO. The other one Vegas Pro was working.
Once I removed quicktime DVDAPRO started to work.
Now I re-installed quicktime. DVDAPRO is still working.

as stated previously DVDAPro has nothing whatsoever to do with Quicktime.

as stated previously sometimes the order of software installation is important.

It could also be some glitch had happened and is now cleared.
