DVD Architect Studio gives Error on Burn

I rendered an MPG and WAV file from Sony Vegas Movie Studio 4.0 and passed those to Architect Studio 2.0. I have Philips DVD+RW-D26 burner and am using Verbatim DVD+R 8x disks to burn to. When I do a burn, it goes for about 5 minutes, and the progress bars stop at "Overall Burn Progress = 7%" and "Burning Lead-In = 98%" and no further burning occurs. Then about 5 minutes after that, DVDAS gives an error window saying:

With all my other applications that use the CD/DVD, the burner works just fine...application such as Record Now, JASC Photo Album, Windows Media Player, etc. They all work.

Is there some parameter that needs to be set? or is this a known problem in DVD Architect Studio? I bought Vegas Movie Studio 4.0 + DVD so as to be able to create DVDs of family functions. Can anyone help me out? Please?

DVDAS and DVDA (at least versions 1 & 2) are both well known for not working very well with a number of burners. Sometimes it helps to use a different media, for example, try -R instead of +R.

File a formal problem report with Sony and in the meantime, use one of your other utilities to burn the DVDAS prepared project. (that is, you author and prepare the project in DVDAS and then use something else to burn the files in the VIDEO_TS folder to the DVD - Nero is one example, there are a number of others).

I did open a problem report directly with Sony, and after about 2 weeks waiting, i finally got a response back as shown below. I implemented all these things (with exception of #3 another brand of DVDs...I am using Verbatim DVD+R and shelled out $20 for a cakebox of 50), and still get the exact same burn error as originally reported.

Here's the steps from Sony Support:

1. Make sure that you have the latest firmware installed for the drive, as provided by the manufacturer from the manufacturers website.

2. Go into the Options menu in DVD Architect Studio and select Preferences. On the General tab, place a check next to "Skip drive database, autodetect drive capabilities". Then press Apply and OK at the bottom of that window.

3. Try another manufacturers brand of DVDs.

4. If you are using DVD-R try DVD+R.

5. For IDE drives, make sure that drive is jumpered as the Master. If plugged in via USB or Firewire, try switching to the other connection type and make sure it is not running through a hub.

6. Rename the attached file from Files.here to Files.zip and unzip it using WinZip or another application that unzips zip files. Then go to: C:\Program Files\Sony\DVD Architect Studio 2.0. Then replace the files there that have the same name as the files attached, with the files attached.

So after all that...same problem. When will SONY get its act together? and produce a DVD Architect Studio that will actually burn DVDs? Frustrated in Dallas!

You are not alone .I Have the same exact problem & I use a Vaio computer with a Sony Burner. it works 1 out of 5 times ,all my other softwares like nero & Ulead work fine. this is frustrating because Architect looks the best. I try to contact sony about this problem with no responce at all in over 3 months, I gave up. movie studio 3.0 came with sonic to burn DVD & it worked 100 times better than movie 4.0 with architect. I would like my money back because this upgrade was a rip-off. one nice thing Sony did for me ,was mail me for free the 3.0 version because i wanted the Sonic software back.
