There's a bitrate chart in my newsletter if you would rather have a reference printout.

Here's a link to the best DVD Bitrate calculator I have found. It is a standalone program, not an Internet based calculator. It has a lot of useful features and is very accurate.

BitCalc v1.10.zip (634kb)

John

(Update: I just uploaded the latest version to my server. Thanks BJ_M.)

http://www.videoproductions.com.au/dvd-lab/BitCalc110.zip

is the more current version than 1.06 above -- but be carefull as this bitrate calculator gives to high a value for max bite rate and suggested upper and lower values are incorrect for the most part for VBR ..

its also harder to use

John;
I agree that it is, without a doubt, the best one I have ever used.
Thank you VERY much for putting it on your site. Hope you plan to keep it there for a very long time :-)

don't get me wrong -- it IS a very usefull app and well done -- just be aware of dvd bit rates and how they relate to BURNED dvd's vs. stamped ..

Thanks BJ_M. That's the site I've been searching for. Now bookmarked for "posterity".
