DVD Burning parameters don't show up

Hi - everything seems great until i go to Make DVD, choose my prepare/burn folder, no messages pop up, and my Burning Parameters dialog window don't allow me to finish the burn! They only allow me to go 'back' or 'cancel'

I am at 89% capacity for the DVD (@ 4.1GB). This must be an easy fix - but I'm racking my brain looking for any other settings I'm missing.

I've tried re-preparing, using other discs, changing resolution and bit rate slightly. But I'm back at default settings. ( i live in australia, so need to use PAL)

any ideas?

Have you burned DVD's from DVDA before?

How much free, defragmented space is on your C drive?

Are you using a second drive as your video drive? If so, have you ensured that it's formatted NTFS?

Your program needs disc space as scratch space and it needs room to produce its prepared files. Particularly if you are using hi-def or AVCHD footage as your source, you'll need lots of extra space on your drive(s) for the program to transcode these large files to DVD files.

This could also be an indicator of problems with your burner or your DVD disc. The best test for this is to prepare a "Prepared File", saving your DVD files to a folder on your hard drive rather than burning directly to a disc.

Then this means that the DVD deck and the media are not communicating. Make sure that you are using the latest driver software for your DVD burning deck.

Have you been able to burn *anything* with this burner from, for example, Windows Explorer?

Hi - thanks for responding.

i'm working from a new HP Elitebook 8530p and using the latest version of DVDA and Vegas. So I'm somewhat certain that defragged C drive space, older versions of DVDA, or the burner/DVD aren't the problem. All footage and output is standard def.

I've tried saving to the C drive, and working from there - but no luck.

The drive I'm working from is external. I took the advice to re-format to NTFS, re-rendered the project from Vegas, sent to DVDA and ... nothing, same problem. I've ensured that I'm working with the latest driver software too.

This is my first project with Vegas/DVDA - is there something in the setup i'm not getting?

If the Burning Parameters dialog window is greyed out, then the PC isn't seeing the DVD burner.

Can you play a CD or DVD from that drive?
