DVD burning problems

We are having problems burning to DVD's. We use MS for the editing, Ulead MovieFactory for the authoring. In Make Movie, we save the project to hard drive as MPEG2, then add chapters in MovieFactory and burn to a RW DVD. The RW always plays flawlessly. When we burn an R from the RW is when we experience problems. The R DVD will freeze while playing back (using the drive to drive burn method). If we use the "copy to hard drive" burn method, we get a message "error copying disc". We have burned on 2 different computers using 2 different brand burners and 2 different brand DVD's. ??? Any ideas please?

do you know if MovieFactory inserts any type of copy protection sectors to the DVD?

I know some apps have the ability to encode the macrovision protection.

Are you able to burn to a -R directly with MovieFactory successfully instead of copying the RW?

No, I dont know if they do
