DVD Device not Recognized

When I am ready to burn a VCD or a DVD Vegas 4 nor Architect will recognize my DVD/CD burner. I have both the Sony 510 and the Pioneer AO3 installed on my AMD 3000+ system. Both drives are seen by the system and in both Premiere 6.5 and Edition 5.

If you don't have a solution, do you suggest a work around?

Do you have another CD/DVD burning program installed? I know sometimes this can cause problems. Also, when I first got my DVD burner (HP 300i), Nero and the sytem would recogonize it, but the DVD authoring software wouldn't. I had to reinstall the software, then it worked fine.
