dvd doesn't play on computers

For the past three years almost every DVD Architect disc I burn has played on all our workstations and all our DVD players.

Now with a new install on a new workstation the DVD played on one player, and one computer, but not on MY own workstation or my co-editors workstations!

Anyone have an idea?

BTW this was burned using an AVI and optimized- something we rarely do.
But why the inconsistent behavior?

HELP!

Well, I may have a simular problem. I just created a DVD using DVDA3 on a new PC and it plays fine on DVD players, but so far, on any PC it will not play and windows says it is a CD.

BTW, The DVD Drive is a LITE-ON.

Yea, I would like some advice also.

Is it safe to assume that you have software installed on your computers that is capable of playing a DVD? Windows Media player does not ship from Microsoft with the necessary items to do this - you need something like WinDVD or PowerDVD.

Other possible - media type: -R or +R, some readers will read either type, some readers will only read -R some will only read +R.

Ok, Updated firmware, changed region to 1, burned a DVD-R with NERO which plays on other PCs fine.

However, When I burn DVDs with DVDA3c, other PCs will not recognize the DVD. Not even the same PC I Burnt the DVD on. But, this same DVD plays on DVD Players fine.

Help.

This particular problem has probably made my DVDs more compatible.

* The problem: (essentially compatiblity) My DVD-Rs burnt with a Lite-On burner using DVDA3 would not play on all PC DVD Drives, but they played fine on DVD Players.

* Solution: After much googling, I learned that a DVD-ROM is a highly compatible DVD even more than a DVD-R and (here's the sweet part) my Lite-on DVD burner can change the booktype of a DVD+R to DVD-ROM. So, I downloaded the utilty from Lite-on and ran it.

* Result: My DVDs play on all the PCs I've tried and start up on DVD players faster.
